Everest Medical Weight Loss was started to give Central Pennsylvania a place where patients can be treated for weight loss at their own pace. We give individualized treatment to every patient. Our goal is to do everything we can to help your achieve your goals. It is a place where we will take our time finding out who you are and how we can help you climb the mountain.
Our Story
Everest Medical Weight Loss opened in June of 2021. It has long been a dream of mine for years and was delayed secondary to the COVID 19 pandemic. I have been treating pulmonary and sleep patients for the past 13 years and the common theme has and will likely always be obesity. This is the number one cause of obstructive sleep apnea and shortness of breath. In discussing with my patients, I realized that while their physicians would recommend weight loss, many of them did not offer a treatment for it. The advice is generally "eat less and do more". This is sound advice but unfortunately is not a road map for patients. They need more time to discuss why they are overweight and a treatment plan that is individualized to help them achieve their goal.
Meet The Team
Alan J. Kanouff DO
Owner and Founder
Dr. Kanouff is originally from Coalport, PA and is board certified in Internal Medicine, Pulmonary Critical Care Medicine and Sleep Medicine. He is a graduate of Pennsylvania State University and went to medical school at Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine. He trained at Conemaugh Hospital in Johnstown and Allegheny General Hospital in Pittsburgh. He continues to see patients at the Lung Disease Center of Central Pennsylvania in Altoona.
Dawn Landeck CRNP
Dawn graduated from the Pennsylvania State University with a Bachelor's Degree in Science of Nursing in 2014. She obtained her Nurse Practitioner there as well in 2017. Dawn grew up in Altoona and is a graduate of Altoona High School. She has 25 years of nursing experience with her last 6 years being in family practice. She has a passion for weight loss and has been treating obesity aggressively. She loves her family and spending time with her 3 children and 2 granddaughters.

Nicole has been with Everest since we opened. She is very hardworking, caring and extremely personable. She will treat you with respect, honesty and integrity.
